Removing Toxic Chemicals From Your Home: An easy step to take for your health

I don’t know about you, but sometimes I have a hard time doing the things I know are good for my body. Sometimes that chocolate ice cream is just calling to me. Or I’m rushed in the morning and don’t make it to the gym. I know these choices aren’t idea for my well-being but sometimes it’s hard…

This morning as I was avoiding my walk because it was 35 degrees out, I was trying to remind myself that it’s just one thing and I shouldn’t feel too bad. There are lots of other things I do that are good for my health, some of which are SO easy! Probably the easiest is not having toxic chemicals in my household cleaners.

One day I just decided – ENOUGH! That’s when I “discovered” Shaklee. Yikes – my “old” cleaning products had things like ammonia and chlorine (like most common brands do), Take a look at this list of what’s probably under your sink. Or if you want to really dig into the chemistry of it, visit the NIH website. Either way, you may find it shocking. Of course, the rest of the world has been “discovering” Shaklee for over 50 years, but hey, I got here as soon as I could.

Anyway, that’s why I feel like the easiest health improvement action you can take is to get those products out of your house. And, your spouse, kids, and pets will all breathe a little easier too. Check out Shaklee’s Get Clean product line to see how easy it is to do something positive for your health, your family, and the planet.

Of course, I hope you’ll still exercise, eat right, take your vitamins, get plenty of sleep and all those other good things. Just don’t miss out on this easy win for your health.

Anti-Aging Prescription? Resveratrol Rx?

Last weekend on CBS, 60 Minutes aired a segment on the anti-aging benefits of resveratrol, the ingredient found in red wine. The segment features Dr. David Sinclair, a biochemist at Harvard who was studying the genetic components of aging and leader of the resveratrol research. Dr. Sinclair explains that scientists and doctors across the country believe that resveratrol may significantly extend life by preventing a number of age related illnesses.

Indoor Air Quality and Life Expectancy

This week, the LA Times reported on a study showing that reduction in particulate pollution is a key variable in increased life expectancy. The study’s author says, “The more particulate pollution went down, the more life expectancy went up.” So, if we want to live longer, we need to clean up the air.

What does this mean for you?

A couple of things. First, one of the major causes of these “fine particulates” in question is gasoline and diesel engines. If we can each drive just a little less, it will help. Even if you can only carpool one day a week, do it. Or maybe you can arrange to telecommute once a week. Any small decrease in driving helps reduce these small particles.

Second, and maybe easier for some of us, clean up your indoor air, especially these “fine particulates” – those that are smaller than 2.5 microns. Most ordinary air filters won’t help with these. Shaklee has an amazing little machine called the AirSource 3000. It works through a patented combination of technologies - Photohydroionization™ and Electron Generation. What does that mean? Most of the commonly available air filters can’t catch these fine particles but AirSource can!

The air in your home is an important factor in your health and your family’s health. Give AirSource a try. It comes with a 60 day guarantee so if it doesn’t work, Shaklee will refund your money.

Drive less and clean up your indoor air. That combination might just give you a longer, healthier life.
